About Me

I have been a researcher for more than 20 years with a consistent focus on children and their support systems (families, communities, service delivery systems).

Early in my career, I focused on large academic-style studies funded by federal agencies, such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  More recently, I have collaborated with private funders, like the MacArthur Foundation and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, with targeted goals and more immediate timelines.

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed my partnerships with stakeholders and the translation of science for lay audiences.  For instance, at the Washington State Institute for Public Policy (WSIPP), I advised state legislators on evidence-based investments in social programs and policies. At SRI International, I provided technical assistance to state policymakers on opioid-related services for children and families in Appalachian states.

I continue to seek out new partnerships with organizations that are looking to solve complex problems with data-driven practical solutions and have shared goals for better serving diverse communities.

I hold a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). For more on my background, visit LinkedIn.
